The Fine Arts come to Atlantic Station

Atlantic Station, Atlanta's live, work and play destination in Midtown Atlanta will host the second annual 17th Street Art Fair, Saturday and Sunday, September 27 & 28, 2008. Over 125 artists and fine crafts booths will be showcased along the tree-lined streets of Atlantic Station's Central Shopping District. "The beautifully designed streetscape of Atlantic Station serves as an ideal backdrop for these exciting exhibitors' heartfelt artistic expressions", said Dann Jackson, Executive Director of The 17th Street Art Fair, LLC.

In addition to the fine arts, fine crafts will be well represented including clay, fine handmade jewelry, sculpture, wood and metal crafts to name just a few. Artist and craftsmen will be setting up to exhibit and sell in a wide variety of work including oil painting, watercolors, mixed media, photography and digital art, manipulated through the use of computers.

"These are artists not usually seen in the Atlanta area, some coming in from as far away as California and the Pacific Northwest," continued Jackson. Inclusion in the festival is highly selective, requiring three juried rounds by noted Atlanta area artists and gallery directors who met in early June to select the invited artists from hundreds of entrants.

Joining the festival this year in Central Park in the heart is retail district is the Who-HA Da-Da Artist Fellowship. This group is comprised of twelve southern folk artists exhibiting their art in a variety of medium including painting, hand carved wood, found objects, sculpture, bottle cap characters and collage. The Who-HA Da-Da is a contemporary movement of 30 practicing folk artists dedicated to maintaining the standards of folk art, visionary and self-taught by artists' pioneers.

The 17th Street Art Fair is sponsored by 92.9 Dave FM, Atlantic Station, Atlanta Intown, Atlanta Social Season, Atlanta's Finest Dining, Atlantic Grill, Harvest Grill, NewFields, Piedmont Review, The Sunday Paper, Massage Envy, Marriott Vacation Club, The New York Times and Fontis Water.
