For the first time ACP has engaged a curator for this program, and Joey Orr was selected for the position. Orr has chosen Atlanta-based artist Matt Haffner for this year's project, which will be installed at approximately twenty locations throughout Downtown and Midtown, during October 2006. The project will be accompanied by a DVD, which is being created by Chris Downs of TUBE. October events related to this project include: a curator and artist discussion, and a tour of the project. |

Haffner began working on the street while studying at the Tyler School of Philadelphia. His early experiments combined graffiti, drawing, wheat paste, and silver prints, using ambiguous narratives derivative of film noir and comic books. The enigmatic relationship between juxtaposing spatial elements and the narrative figure is explored, using the urban landscape as both setting and aesthetic component. Haffner received his Masters degree from the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, in 1998. After moving to Atlanta, he became the 2003-2004 recipient of the Forward Arts Foundation, Emerging Artist of the Year Award. He is a studio artist at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center and was recently appointed as Professor of Photography at Kennesaw State University.
