More about Henri Jova:
A native of New York, Jova grew up in New York and Cuba. After studying architecture at Cornell University, he won the coveted Prix de Rome to study at the American Academy in Italy. He started his architectural career in New York City in 1951 with the firm Harrison Abramovitz, whose projects included Rockefeller Center, the United Nations, LaGuardia Airport and Lincoln Center.

In 1954, Jova moved to Atlanta to join the firm of Abreu Robeson as chief of design. In 1966 he was a founding partner of Jova, Daniels and Busby, a firm specializing in commercial architecture. Jova’s firm was the chief architect for Colony Square, the Butterfly House at Calloway Gardens and the Atlanta City Hall addition as well as the Carter Presidential Center and Presidential Library. As chairman and principle designer at JDB, Jova was known for his ability to find a balance between modern and classical architecture. His long commitment to Midtown and his efforts in starting the Midtown Neighborhood Association earned him the nickname, "the honorary mayor of Midtown."

Jova is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and a Fellow of American Society of Interior Designers. He was awarded the Silver Medal by the AIA for lifetime commitment to excellence in design. Jova's career in Atlanta spanned 50 years before he retired in 2004, at the age of 85.
